I have a bunch of events coming up in the next several weeks, but I would be most grateful if you could help spread the word about this one in particular.
In recent weeks I’ve told you about an initiative developed by the Paulian Iowa GOP: they want to put on a series of events, to be keynoted by me, around the state in order to spread the liberty message to the grassroots of the party. Well, the first of these events is slated to take place April 13 in Dubuque. It’s free, but please RSVP.
The event will run from 1:00-4:00pm. I will speak three times, 30 minutes each time. My first talk will be on the economy. This will not be the usual boilerplate about lower taxes and fewer regulations. Grassroots GOP folks hear this all the time. Of course we need those things. I intend to focus on the Fed, the pretexts for and consequences of the bailouts (which so many so-called “small government” politicians supported), and issues of that nature. I’ll be making my best arguments, but also naming names.
My second talk will be on state nullification. I will show how strong the case for nullification is. I will acknowledge that it does not have the approval of the New York Times. I consider this a good sign, not a bad one. I’ll note that if we’re happy with how things are going, we should by all means continue to do the same old things. We should sit around waiting for the Supreme Court to put things right. If we’re unhappy with a century of failure, isn’t it time to think about changing our approach a bit, even if — heaven forbid! — the New York Times disapproves?
I expect to have the audience on my side after the first two talks. That’s when things get interesting. For my third talk, I’m covering foreign policy.
The event is taking place at the University of Dubuque, Blades Chapel. The university is located at 2000 Central Ave. The room is at the corner of University Avenue and N. Algona Street.
I hope to see you there!
