I’ve spoken about this a couple times this year. Writes Paul Drapeau, in response:
Thank you for making your “An Evening with Tom Woods” presentation [video,
audio] at the Mises University this year. I listened to all of the lectures from that event in my car and I wanted to tell you this presentation was especially moving for me because it is in a way similar to my personal story. Particularly your discussions on Desert Storm. I consider some of my greatest personal failings to be my support of the various wars in the Middle East championed by our government. I got to the Mises Institute and works like yours, Rothbard’s, etc., because I was seeking answers about an uncomfortable feeling I had about my own intellectual and moral ground which I could not square with the policies I was supporting and voting for. I’m glad to hear you come out and say you can also make those types of mistakes and explain the intellectual journey that this scholarship and movement has been about for me. I think your presentation stands as one of the best I have stumbled on in my few years of absorbing the Mises Institute material daily on my 2 hour commute because of the “guard down” personal nature it took.Thank you for the work you and your colleagues do for truth and liberty.
