My 8-year-old and I are reading The Silver Chair, one of the books in C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia series. She doesn’t need me to read with her anymore, but even though she does the vast bulk of her reading without me now, we’ve been in the habit of reading together ever since I taught her to read years ago using the worth-every-penny Hooked on Phonics program.
In any case, having read a couple other titles in the series, we chose The Silver Chair mainly because we’d heard it would be the next film to be made, so we justified reading it out of order. Now I discover the next film will actually be an adaptation of The Magician’s Nephew, if indeed another film is to be made. I don’t much care for the movies, but it’s fun for the kids.
