Here’s what I wrote the other day on behalf of Revolution PAC, the organization all the cool pro-Ron Paul people are supporting:
The media’s treatment of Ron Paul has given us a bizarre glimpse into what it must have been like to get your news behind the Iron Curtain.
Stories of the Iowa Straw Poll told us who came in first and third. News programs refer to a “top tier” of Romney, Perry, and Bachmann, even though Dr. Paul is out-polling Bachmann.
The establishment practically begged us to like Tim Pawlenty. We fell asleep during his first sentence.
Then it was Jon Huntsman whom the media told us was a credible candidate worthy of attention. He’s at 2%, and not rising. There’s no Jon Huntsman Revolution.
At the top, they’re happy enough with Mitt Romney and Rick Perry, neither of whom would change a blessed thing.
The media campaign to erase Ron Paul from existence is backfiring. It’s occurring to a lot of people: if a candidate came along who actually told Americans the truth – about both domestic and foreign policy – this is exactly the treatment we would expect him to receive…so, might Ron Paul be that candidate?
Some media figures have tried to defend their exclusion of Dr. Paul – why, he promotes ideas that we at the Washington Post haven’t granted you permission to hold!
But the worst thing you can say to someone, especially a young person, is don’t listen to X! You can bet your bottom dollar that the first thing that person is going to do is Google X.
So how do we crack through? How do we get around the media?
We go directly to the public, with the most powerful and compelling portrayal of Dr. Paul we can.
That’s where Revolution PAC comes in.
We are an organization of grassroots Ron Paul supporters, each of whom is deeply devoted to the cause and gets results.
We are not merely seeking to promote a man who wants to balance the budget, or who is a 26 percent better conservative Republican than the other conservative Republicans. If that’s our approach, we will lose.
We intend to promote Ron Paul in a way that is worthy of this great man, that helps people understand why there are signs for Ron Paul, and for no other candidate, all over town.
He is not merely a better version of his opponents. He is a class apart. That’s what we’re saying in our TV ad, “Plastic Men” – which got the attention of the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Politico, and The Hill. Watch it and see why.
We need your help to get it on the air in important primary states.
Your donation will go directly to that purpose. No six-figure salaries, massive overhead, or large expense reimbursements here. Just regular Americans putting their skills and talents to the service of our great cause.
We have other ads in mind, too, if you can help us get this one on the air. With a man like Ron Paul, the ads practically write themselves.
Remember, since we are a Super PAC, there are NO LIMITS on the donations Revolution PAC is able to accept from individuals, organizations and businesses.
If you maxed out to the Ron Paul campaign today, and/or if you agree with our vision and support what we are doing, please consider helping us.
This is the apex of Ron Paul’s career. He has toiled for us, often alone, for over 30 years. Mitt Romney and Rick Perry are seeing millions pour into their Super PACs so their donors can get a seat on the gravy train. Can we count on you to help a man who will derail that train?
I don’t expect our country to get a better chance than this one, at this historic moment.
Monday, September 19, is our Super PAC Super Bomb. Help us show the public the real Ron Paul. Help us produce the ads we’ve all been wanting to see. Help us help Ron Paul, and our country.
Be a part of it.
