So what’s Woods been up to since we last heard from him?
I’ll get to that in a minute. First, next weekend begins the best week of the year: the Mises Institute’s Mises University summer program. This week I’ll be showing you how to get access to the whole program even if you can’t be there in person.
No single event did more to shape who I am than Mises University. So please stay tuned about that.
I’ll be opening the event with a talk about the current election season from an Austrian School perspective. I’ll also be giving a talk on war, sitting on some panels, and co-hosting a live episode of Contra Krugman.
(I’ll make my talks into episodes of the Tom Woods Show.)
So what have I been up to?
We’ve moved to Florida, and since moving is the single worst thing you can do, I’ve temporarily reduced the number of episodes of the Tom Woods Show to two per week. Next week I’m hoping to be back to normal.
(There’s an episode of Contra Krugman, my weekly podcast with Bob Murphy, coming out later today, by the way.)
But what an ordeal we’ve been through.
Shortly after boarding the plane to Orlando, we were informed that our cat carrier (we don’t have any experience transporting animals) was about half an inch too tall, so one of us would have to get off the plane and take the cat with us.
I of course told Mrs. Woods to stay on board, and I took the cat and left.
The kids, of course, were horrified, and my 13-year-old, for whom we got the cat in the first place, felt absolutely terrible despite my assurances.
So now, with no house and no car and two heavy bags plus a cat, I have to figure out how to get a “soft-sided” pet carrier, plus cat food and a litter box and some litter for the night. Plus a pet-friendly hotel. Oh, and be back at the airport by 5:00 in the morning.
Mission accomplished, of course, but good grief.
Meanwhile, on my blog I’ve chronicled our experiences with North American Van Lines.
Bottom line: still no furniture, and I’m still operating out of a hotel.
Is it a strained segue to say I’m looking forward to going on a cruise in October? If you think so, you haven’t moved seven people halfway across the country in the middle of July.
Bob and I can’t guarantee pricing or cabins after the last handful of them go, which will happen in the coming days. So if you were thinking about joining us for the Contra Cruise, now’s the time.
If you’re an individual, we have a male passenger looking for a roommate and a female passenger looking for a roommate, so let the cruise folks know.
