During Black Friday weekend I send a lot of emails. They’re excellent emails — entertaining, informative, and well written.
Invariably, a half dozen people write to complain.
Mind you, four days in a row I mentioned that a lot of emails were coming, and that if for some reason people didn’t want to read them, they could delete them or simply unsubscribe.
That apparently did no good.
Here’s the way I look at it.
All year long I produce free content: hundreds of podcast episodes, and hundreds of issues of this newsletter.
What do I ask in return?
That people read some extra emails once a year, or spend 20 seconds deleting them all.
I don’t think that’s an unreasonable request. But if you do, dear reader, there is an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every issue.
