In my remarks at the September 2012 Mises Circle in Manhattan I referred to two sources in particular that make the case for the production of money on the market rather than by the government or its monopoly grantee. Here are those sources:
Jeffrey Herbener, Congressional testimony, May 8, 2012. Professor Herbener makes the case for production of money on the market, and refutes the alleged benefits of an elastic currency produced by government or via government monopoly.
Guido Hulsmann, The Ethics of Money Production. The book’s title notwithstanding, you’ll find a great deal of economic argument here. You can buy the book or read it online (or, in turn, download it and read it on one of your devices).
And finally, I referred to my online resource LearnAustrianEconomics.com.
