As of last month, I had tens of thousands of emails in my inbox. And I’m not kidding: it was a source of anxiety for me. Every day it got worse.
Today I’m down to a couple hundred.
I did it with something called SaneBox. They advertise on my show. Normally I run the ads and leave it at that. But I am totally in love with this thing and want you to know about it. Since my family hears about my triumphs with it every day, it’s your turn now.
I have trained SaneBox to put my less important emails into a separate folder, so I can scan them quickly at the end of the day instead of being interrupted by them all day long. That folder is called SaneLater. I absolutely love dragging emails into it, because every time I do so, I teach it a little more about my email preferences. And I can have emails re-sent to me tomorrow (quickly drag them into the SaneTomorrow folder!), or at any specified time when I’ll be ready to answer them.
Never want to hear from someone or some organization again? Drag to SaneBlackHole. (Yes, Gmail can do this, but it’s annoying and you probably won’t go to the trouble.)
These features plus a bunch of others mean my inbox is now at zero at the end of every single day. It is an amazing feeling. Seriously, what a relief.
The creators gave me a free trial account so I could test it out before advertising it to my audience. But when that trial ran out, I marched right over there and very gladly paid for the next year’s membership. I can’t live without it.
