Turns out a graph of the trend in the Gini coefficient, which is often used to measure economic inequality, for the United States since 1994 is completely flat.
There has been no change in individual inequality, but some change in household inequality. Here’s a post that makes sense of this.
Two caveats here: (1) I have not studied this issue; I am linking to these pieces to see what people think of them; (2) I do not care one whit about “income inequality” as long as it comes about without the initiation of physical force — i.e., via some government (or Federal Reserve) privilege. I have absolutely no claim on anyone else’s income and it is juvenile and morally reprehensible for me to think I do.
