Every once in a while I get an email like this seeking precisely this kind of advice, and I never quite know what to say. So I punt to you guys. Anyone game?
Tom, any career advice for a burnout attorney in his thirties who enjoys reading and writing about Austrian economics? I have been greatly influenced the last few years by the Austrian economics, in particular the works of Reisman, Mises, and Rothbard. I wish I would have discovered their works in college and pursued a career in economics. I am now stuck at the moment in a legal career and trying to see if there is a way out. I have considered returning to school and obtaining a Ph.D. but I don’t have the academic background to immediately enter into a Ph.D. program. Plus, such a career move seems to be too late at this stage in my life. I spend quite a bit of time trying to influence conservatives on Austrian economics…. I am trying to find a way to have a career that involves economics. I am sure you regularly see this type of request for advice. Thanks for reading even if you don’t have time to respond.
