Who Are the Neocons? And More

13th October 2011      by: Tom Woods

I filled in for Peter Schiff again today on the Peter Schiff Show; my guests were Judge Andrew Napolitano and Professor C. Bradley Thompson.

The Judge’s new book, which we discussed, is It Is Dangerous to Be Right When the Government Is Wrong: The Case for Personal Freedom. Brad Thompson’s book is  Neoconservatism: An Obituary for an Idea.  Thompson has very interesting things to say about the neocons, and our chat was fully as bold and controversial as I expected.  Brad and I disagree on foreign policy, but we are equally opposed to the alleged mandate to “spread democracy.”

Listen here.

I love it when Peter announces that you are filling in. Great show, as usual! Though your monologue is never long enough… or the clock is too fast.

Great job as always, I always look forward to your guest hosting. Crossing my fingers that you’ll end up with your own show of some sort one day…

Always a delight. Thank you for all you do, Dr. Woods!

Great show Tom. I have a ton of respect for Mr. Schiff, but in my opinion he’s a rather poor interviewer (let the interviewee speak!). Hopefully we all get treated to a “Tom Woods Show” at some point in the future.

Really enjoyed the show Tom, you need your own!

  • Marcos P

Hurry up and get a show already! Geesh…

Tom, my immediate reaction about your interview with Judge Napolitano is this.  What good is keeping his show, if Ron Paul loses the nomination, when in fact, the MAJOR REASON all the supporters of Dr. Paul want the Judge is because we have a strong sense they could win together, if it were announced.  Besides, this is about SAVING OUR COUNTRY, not saving a show!  What good will the show be, if we lose Ron Paul?  I fear this country will head downhill so fast it will make our heads spin.  If this is all we can expect from the Judge, and now, I’m also wondering if Ron Paul feels the same attitude again at this point in time, which is that he won’t win but wants to use this platform to continue educating?  Then, my husband and I won’t feel like forking over thousands of dollars like we did the last campaign.  Why?

Because we want Ron Paul to WIN.  It is a desperate hour for this nation.  That’s why I suggested it’s time to play hardball & for Ron to be the ONE person in Congress who steps up to the plate and proceeds with the serious step of IMPEACHMENT of Obama right now, based on the killing of an American citizen without due process.  It would be tactically the wisest thing to do, in my estimation, especially at this juncture.  I believe Dr. Paul must be thinking about this right now, because no more serious threat has ever occurred in the history of our nation to potentially jeopardize and threaten the security of ALL Americans like this one has.  But, I digress, and no, I wasn’t too elated by the Judge’s response.  It is hard enough as it is just getting big hitters to support us.  We have to fight so many things.  We also have to fight the big war chests of elite money buckets.  It’s exasperating. Oh, well…

Hi Tom, I also enjoyed your radio broadcast.  You have great delivery.

Regarding Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 plan: I think it’s just a guise to get another tax on the books. It wouldn’t be long before it became 29-29-29.

How many people with a show on the mainstream news channels are defending liberty and freedom? Only one, the Judge (Some might count Stossel–personally I don’t for reasons I won’t go into here). I think he’s right to want to stay there, spreading our message.

We can only win back our country with the support of the people, and we can’t get the support of the people without first educating them on the principles and philosophy of liberty.

I think Judge Andrew Napolitano should be a Supreme Court Justice – appointed by President Ron Paul. What other judge has actually supported the Constitution the way he has?

  • Joel Pettit

La la la….just stopping by here everyday waiting for TWoods to get on google+…

  • Frank M

Good show! What’s the disagreement over foreign policy?

  • http://tomwoods.com Tom Woods

Thompson isn’t opposed to Middle Eastern wars; he thinks they should be fought even harder than the neocons are willing to, but that the wars’ purpose should not be to spread democracy.

*hegemony   (LOL. I’ll get it right one of these days.)

I heard Rick Perry on the radio earlier announcing his answer to 9-9-9. I can’t understand why he didn’t just say “8-8-8.”

  • Joel Pettit

I totally wish Ron Paul would start saying over and over that he espouses a “0, 0, 0″ plan!

  • Frank M

And when anything is said by Ron Paul, it’s true.

I can’t say the same for anything from George W. Romney, George W. Perry, George W. Cain, George W. Santorum, George W. Huntsman, or Georgette W. Bachmann.

Guys, its people like this we need to get over to Ron Paul’s side. This guy posted in a certain “very conservative” fourm called Free Republic, many of who mock Ron Paul often.

“Right now I’m supporting Cain though I’d be happy to support Ron Paul. I don’t agree with him on everything but the man is not given the credit he deserves. If he were a little better at how he talks about Defense issues he’d have no problem at all winning the nomination. Some seem to fear him but if it comes down to him versus Romney in a mano a mano then he’s my man and if Romney wins the nom God forbid and Paul runs third Party I’ll vote for and support him.”

Right now Cain has the most people who are closest and have the best potential to be Ron Paul supporters. We need to get on this.
