(Sent to my email list.)
Your relatives can be the hardest people to reach.
Apparently, I just helped a listener reach her relatives.
She writes:
Wow oh wow!! I sent your podcast to my extremely liberal, live-in-NYC parents and they loved it!! They agreed with everything you said. In 10 years I have not been able to find a libertarian position on anything that they agreed with. You can’t know what a compliment this is to you, but it is earth-shattering!! I thank you very much. You may have brought a family together!
I have never been able to bring them over to any libertarian positions before and I can’t tell you how many times I have heard them say that WWII ended the Great Depression.
Finally, finally, I think they get it. Thanks to your fabulously clear discussion. Hugely obliged!!
She’s talking about my episode on the hidden costs of war, in which I also cover the claim that World War II ended the Depression.
Evidently, it worked.
Moral of the story: if you have an intransigent relative, send that person this-a-way:
Other tidbits:
(1) I’ll be speaking in Cambridge, Massachusetts on October 1, and in Orlando, Florida, on December 1. Hope you can attend!
(2) Two things are ending imminently.
(a) It was 1,000 at the beginning today, but now it’s just a few hundred language courses left at 60% off at Rocket Languages, which has been a great affiliate for the show. When they’re gone they’re gone, so check them out: http://www.tomwoods.com/rocket
(b) I always have bonuses if you start a website through my hosting link, but the extra bonus, my 35-minute screencast video that shares with you my website and podcast monetization mechanisms, goes away at midnight tonight. So if you want that bonus, time’s a wasting.

(3) In response to my email this morning, I’m told a bunch of you marched over to the Amazon page for Brion McClanahan’s book 9 Presidents Who Screwed Up America and responded to the ignorant one-star reviews from people who hadn’t read it. You guys are great! I’m writing to Brion to let him know.
