I just returned from a very successful Mises Institute event in Seattle. Bob Murphy and I recorded the best episode ever of Contra Krugman in front of an enthusiastic live audience. When the audio is ready, I’ll send you an email if you’re on my list.
We loved it. I hope you do, too.
We got lucky, though. All week Paul Krugman was putting out boring, or non-topical stuff (the Mises event was supposed to focus on economic fallacies from the election).
And then, the day before the event, Krugman released in effect a greatest hits column, filled with some of his worst arguments of 2016. It was a huge gift with a giant red bow.
I had a chance to meet many of the hundreds of people who attended. One father introduced me to his daughter, who has been studying Western civilization using the hundreds of videos I prepared for the Ron Paul homeschool curriculum.
Four of my girls were with me; here we are at the Space Needle!
Believe me, they remember when I was recording those videos.
The years 2013-2015 were consumed by preparation, recording, and editing of 400 videos on history and government, plus coming up with reading and writing assignments for them. That was by far the most challenging assignment I’ve ever had.
But also, I hope, the most long-lasting.
The single biggest obstacle we face in promoting our ideas is the public school system. Agreed?
Whenever you try to discuss almost anything of significance, you come up against a giant wall of misinformation and ignorance. It takes tremendous effort to knock it down.
But what if students had a chance to hear — wait for it — both sides of important questions?
And what if, instead of leaving high school with zero prospects and no idea how to make a living, they’d been taking courses on how to start a home business, how to write effective advertising copy (no one who can do this will struggle to make a living), and how to manage one’s personal finances?
This program, in other words, is our secret weapon.
Now here’s the thing.
I’m going to make you a deal, and it will never be repeated.
